In December 2000, Johannes Moeller joined a danish roll on/roll off vessel on a voyage from 
Gothenburg To Gent in Belgium and return. In the North Sea the Tor Dania ran in to a real winter storm,
 giving the artist an exceptional possibility to study heavy weather conditions at close hand. 
This painting is made on the impressions from that voyage.


 

"Pipe laying Vessel", oil on canvas, 40x70, private collection, Holland

This oil painting shows the pipe laying unit Solitaire in stormy Indonesian waters, 
laying out a pipe line for gas. Two Danish coasters are supplying the unit with tubes 
a demanding task when the wind is up. 
Commisioned by a Danish shipping company and delivered to business partners in Holland.
