On the Danish North Sea coast You can still find a few places where the fishermen launches
their vessels directly from the shore, by means of heavy winches and wirers. 
The vessels are mostly wooden build, very solid and seaworthy crafts, manned by 2 og 3 men.
This painting is made on Lild Strand, the artist´s favourite site on the Danish west coast. 
A vessel is comming into the surf, to pick up the wire.

The landing site at Lild Strand, seen from an incoming vessel. It´s a tough and windswept place,
where a few skilled fishermen challenges life at sea – the site has only been populated for 120 years.
